I’d say Fausto Obertan was the bust of the 2045 draft. 17 y/o pitcher taken w the #1 overall pick, AS/EN/CO top out at 55/52/45. Does have pitch ratings in the 80’s and did have a good season in limited innings in 2053, but that was a massive blown opportunity for a #1 overall.

Moral of the story: Think twice before drafting 17 year olds high in the draft. Unless I’m picking right after you.

Man, that 2035 draft was pretty much ugly all around.

Yup I'll own that....one of my first drafts....had a bunch of talented guys coming up the pipe and instead of grabbing best player in the draft I tried to address my pitching....thought at 17 he'd blossom into a lights out closer...didn't realize that AS never really improves much.

I was able to deal him though and got something useful in return.

Yeah I took a chance on him. Traded 39 yo Leo Stromme for Obertan and Gerber. Not a bad return for stromme who retired after one year on the islands.

As we all know, I've had some major busts in the ammy draft, but 2045 was one that I got right. 3B Heizo Yoshida was a solid pick at #3 who became one of the key pieces in bringing SS Paul Blaisedell to Entebbe (after I missed out on him by one slot). After winning ROY in 2053 with Cozumel, Yoshida recently returned to Entebbe when the Mayans' contention window closed. Not a superstar by any means, but a guy who hits and runs well at a premium position. I'll take it.
